California Buckwheat

California buckwheat (genus: Eriogonum) is one of the key plants that comprise the coastal sage scrub.

The hillsides support coastal sage scrub vegetation. These plants can survive the drier upper slopes of the watershed. They also help to guarantee that those slopes don’t wash away in heavy rain, or break free in an earthquake.
